When choosing a wood burning camp stove, there are several factors that come into play. One of the most important factors is size and weight.

Hunting with a Wall Tent and Stove

November 13th, 2007 by Devin Lewis

So I got to thinking about it, and I realized that I have never gone on an overnight hunting trip without having a wall tent or wood camp stove with me. There have been times when I’ve just had a small wall tent without a stove. And also times when I’ve maybe used a range tent or spike tent as well as a little tent stove to keep warm. But never been without, and I know why… because a hunting trip is so much more enjoyable when your comfortable.

For example, this past October I came up empty in the rifle deer hunt, but that didn’t stop me from having a great time.

New Network of Websites

November 1st, 2007 by Devin Lewis

Now I know that this really doesn’t have much to do with Outfitter Warehouse or any camping related topics, but I decided to post it anyway.

I will soon be launching a new network of websites in addition to the few that I already have up. This new network isn’t directly related to camping or hunting, but it still has to do with the great outdoors. Anyway, the network “hub” will be located at www.motoshuffle.com. This website will initially serve as the central location as well as house the network blog.

As of now, there will be four different branches of the network in addition to the hub. They can be found at www.atvshuffle.com, www.dirtbikeshuffle.com, www.snowmobileshuffle.com, and www.pwcshuffle.com. I might decide to add a few more sites as time goes on but as for now this will be it.

So what is the purpose or mission of this new network? Well, each of these sites will be specialized online classifieds websites. With ATVs for sale, used dirt bikes, snowmobiles for sale, and used personal watercrafts. I initially plan to offer listings for free until i can build a large enough user group to monetize the system.

Anyway, you could jump over and check out the sites but there is just a plain index page posted for now, I plan on updating them soon.

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with Cylinder Stoves, but they make a pretty darn good camp stove.

Also, I don’t know how many of you are familiar with Davis Tent, but they make a pretty darn good wall tent.

Now, Davis Tent used to be a proud dealer of Cylinder Stoves stoves, but now they offer a new line of wood camp stoves, the Summit Stoves.

Tent, Stove, and Frame Terms

October 24th, 2007 by Devin Lewis

I have posted three different articles in the article section of the Outfitter Warehouse website. These articles can be found under the glossary category.

When most people begin searching for information on canvas tents, wall tent frames, or outdoor wood stoves, they generally do not have a broad understanding of the important terms and phrases associated with the products in this industry.

In order to help educate those looking for more information, I have put together a list of popular terms associated with tents, stoves, and frames. You can view those articles by clicking the links below.

2007 Mule Deer Hunt

October 23rd, 2007 by Devin Lewis

I just returned late last night from my annual deer hunting trip here in Southern Utah. Each year, I go hunting with my dad and a few of my brothers in the Pine Valley Mountains, which are located in the southwestern corner of Utah. Unfortunately, I came away empty handed this year despite having great weather and a few opportunities at bucks.

But aside from the hunting woes, it was a great weekend where i was just able to relax and enjoy the outdoors. I was able to take a few quick pictures of camp while i was up there, I will post them below.

Canvas Wall Tent from Cylinder Stoves

We set up a 15′x21′ canvas wall tent for camp, which was great but maybe just a tad bit too small for the seven people we had in camp. Overall, it worked great, despite having to retrofit a 15′ A-Frame to a 21′ Tent. We had to do this because in previous years, we would use a 15′x15′ wall tent, and have just left the tent frame up in the mountains stashed in a tree. So this year we decided to bring a larger tent but forgot to bring more frame pieces. Oh and by the way, the wall tent and tent frame were both manufactured by Cylinder Stoves.

Hunter Stove from Cylinder Stoves

We also were using a stove from Cylinder Stoves. The size shown is the Hunter Model, which worked fine but was maybe just a tad bit too small for a 15′x21′ wall tent. It looks old and worn because it is, we also leave the stove up in the mountain in our stash which saves us from having to pack it in each year. And as you can see, camp was quite messy when this photo was taken.

Overall, it was a great trip despite only bagging one deer between all of us. Sometimes its just nice to get out and and away from life and enjoy the time alone.
