Collapsible
stoves are similar to light
weight stoves in that they are
constructed of similar
material. They are built with
thiner metal to reduce the
weight of the stove and also
to provide the ability of
folding up.
These stove
fold down on themselves and
are used occassionally by
those who pack in. Even though
these stoves fold, only about
one half of the stove space is
saved because all of the stove
accessories such as stovepipe,
water heaters, side trays,
ect. must also be packed with
the stove. Stovepipe and other
stove accessories usually fit
inside of other
non-collapsible stoves.
The biggest
problem with collapsible
stoves is the fact that they
are not airtight. This allows
for the possibility of smoke
leaking into your tent. The
main purpose in selecting a
collapsible stove is to
preserve space and weight.
